I dunno, guys. I think the scale is correct. Look at the size of the boat, that's about right. That is, if this is a zoomed out version of the map. If it's zoomed in, well, it could be pretty fricken big!

Come on, sure, the scale is sure to be off, but you cant ignore the coastline? It may not fit, but the connection is right there.

The cost line does fit. The art of the maps is just different.

Also, the Paragon has been described as the guardian of the Elonian People in official press releases/a.nets website, so Elonia is obviously the location of the next chapter (when people were predicting Cantha a year ago people were sceptics about that too).

It probably is linked, I assume there will be ebough chapters to create an big world. Elona can be linked to tyria (Europe and asia are :P). also I dont think Cantha was suppose to be in relation as elona is looking like. that's why we take a boat to get back and forth.

We'll soon find out and let much of this rest.
Only fruit worth enjoying out of this thread is musing over that map screenshot. It does raise the curiousity and interest.

Well, there's a boat in the Elona map shown, so it looks like we'll be taking a boat to Elona.

But, that doesn't mean it's not connected, after all, we took a "boat" (cinematic) when leaving Kryta to get to the Crystal Desert in Prophecy...

WE take a boat there because of the flawed map system. There is no path from Elona to Tyria. So they slap an icon on the board that opens up a dialog that has links to new areas, like a link to new web site in a browser.

IT also wouldn't be wise to plop new Prophecies players at the end of the game, so the Boat is the only wise option.

In the future, they might merge the areas. But it seems that it won't be done in Chapter 3. And I don't expect it to be done in Chapter 4 either.

man i finally have a use for my world history class! the three areas of elona are just like three major areas in the ancient middle east. the Island of Istan is amazingly similar to Fertile Crescent area of the middle east with its ancient statues and monuments. the region of the paragons is just like the antolian peninsula due to the mountainous area both regions have and both have many natural resources. the dervish region is obviously egypt due to its large army, it being a desert, and its one life giving river (i would bet anything that the region will be called "the gift of the elon" at least once in the game).

o and HawkOfStorms an exodus doesnt necisarilly have to be a great far journey the hebrews had an exodus that went from egypt to canaan which was only like 500 miles.

Also as the npc during the dragon festival said, Crystal Desert is infact part of Elona.

You know, I think there's a good chance Elona and Tyria actually ARE connected. In Lions Arch, theres the door only accesible as for Canthans arriving for the first time to Tyria, and cannot be acsessed any other way.
Here comes the part where i drool, in the Anmoon Oasis, there is a door/gate/portal very similar to the Lions Arch door, perhaps this will be the way Elonians will access Tyria. Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe I'm right, if im right, w00t! i am teh uber

*Brainwave*. Should we hoard Elonain Leather Squares?

Sorry if that's off-topic but profit dominates my mind.

Above your post proves Elona and Tyria are apart of the same continent: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...8&postcount=33

BUT it would not be wise to connect the two like you suggested without some special tie in.

Having Elonian characters come to Tyria through the Crystal Desert blindly will plop them at the end of the game in Chapter 1. There would have to be an alternate route to Ascalon or Kryta through it.

Since ANET vowed "No New Content for Past Chapters", this will be even more unlikely.

That gate in Amnoon used to take you to the arena there, if I'm not mistaken.

It's hard to say.
But honestly, at the rate they are producing these games, I think they've had some idea of where they were going to go with them all from the start. Maybe not necessarily characters and the like, but to render an entire world, again, with new characters, new storyline, 300 new skills with new animations, it seems like it would take a lot longer than 6 months. At least a year.
Whether that is incorrect or not, it's my assumption.
The hints they give in each game, of the other games, just seems more intended than they do mere coincidence.
I think if anything the writers made the storyline from the start and, they're progressing with the games like the story progresses in itself.
Sort of like basing a series of movies off a series of novels I guess. I dunno.
The clues are just too obvious for it to be coincidence, I think so at least.

But then, as someone said, they could simply be basing the other games off certain aspects of the previous games rather than the lore/story as a whole itself. So someone could have simply been like, "So hey, Elona's Reach ... how 'bout we make Elona? Yeah? Yeah."

Sorry to prove you wrong, that door used to lead to one of the arenas. However it is just now part of the random arenas and can not be accessed on the regular map.

it used to be an arena? im not sure, i remember when the arenas in tyria were still active that wasnt an arena, i remember trying to find a way through that gate, also, omega does have a good point about plopping elonians near the end of chpt 1, but lions arch for the canthans isnt all that near the beginning either. Also, i forgot to mention there is a very similar unacsessible gate in Kaineng City, like in Lions Arch, i have never seen this door used, hmmm
